Location

The unique valley that is home to the Winter Park Resort, is located in the Arapahoe National Forest and surrounded by three vast wilderness areas:  Indian Peaks, Byers Peak and Vasquez.  The short 1 1/2 hour drive on Interstate 70 (67 miles or 108 kilometers) from the Denver metro area means Winter Park is the closest large ski resort to this metropolis.  The Denver International Airport (85 miles or 137 kilometers) will be your port of entry providing easy access via Interstate 70 West to exit 232 onto U.S. Hwy 40.

The Mountain

Winter Park Resort’s unique advantage of five interconnecting mountains, with 14 historic trails and 25 lifts provides guests a large choice of skiable terrain.  Each separate mountain (Winter Park, Mary Jane with Parsenn Bowl, Vasquez Cirque, and Vasquez Ridge) is accessible with the purchase of one lift ticket and proven to be one of Colorado’s favorite resorts for over 72 years.

Winter Park:

Base elevation 9,000 feet or 2,743 meters; summit at Sunspot 10,700 feet or 3,261 meters. Vertical drop: 1,700 feet or 518 meters.

Mary Jane:

Base elevation 9,450 feet or 2,880 meters; summit at North Cone 12,060 feet or 3,676 meters. Vertical drop: 2,610 feet or 796 meters.

Parsenn Bowl:

Base elevation 10,348 feet or 3,154 meters; summit 12,060 feet or 3,676 meters. Vertical drop: 1,712 feet or 522 meters.

Vasquez Ridge:

Base elevation 9,486 feet or 2,486 meters; summit 10,700 feet or 3,261 meters. Vertical drop: 1,214 feet or 370 meters.

Vasquez Cirque:

Base elevation 10,400 feet or 3,170 meters; summit 11,900 feet or 3,627 meters. Vertical drop: 1,500 feet or 457 meters.

Terrain Parks and Pipes
The six terrain parks have varying degrees of difficulty and in the last four years have brought Winter Park into a world class leader in this category.  

The beginner park is located below Snoasis restaurant, mid-mountain at Winter Park and is designed with small boxes located just off the ground, great for the beginner-jibber. Bouncer Park is at the base of Winter Park for easy access and has a step up in rail difficulty.  Ash Cat provides an area to master smaller jumps and medium sized features.  The Re-railer is an intermediate park located off the Eskimo Express chair and has a variety of jumps, rails and some non-traditional jib features.  The Rail Yard includes Dark Territory.  The controlled access area pushes the skills of experts.  The Rail Yard has a combination of rails, jibs, superpipe and jumps.

Chairlifts
A total of 25 lifts are at the Winter Park Resort and are broken down into the following categories:  the new Village Cabriolet, two high-speed six-pack lifts (North America's highest high-speed six-person lift the Panoramic Express), seven high-speed express quads, four triples, six double chairlifts, three surface lifts, and three Magic carpets. The Zephyr Express chairlift at the Winter Park base converts into a gondola for evening dinners at The Lodge at Sunspot.   The uphill capacity is 36,920 passengers.

Snowfall and Snow Making
The average snowfall is 355 inches or 29 feet; and there is snow making on 26 trails for coverage of 299 acres.

Resort Facilities

Winter Park - The base village of Winter Park is continually changing and growing.  There are also several on mountain improvements and the base of Mary Jane gets the occasional face lift.  The goal is to provide quality dining, entertainment and shopping for all guests during the visit for the day or overnight.

Base Area: The main base area of Winter Park has 10 different dining options, ski lockers, lift ticket windows, child care area, ski school for adults and children, retail shops, lost and found; 7-Mile Medical Clinic, Ski Patrol, indoor climbing wall, ice skating and multi-level parking structure.

West Portal Station: The Derailer Bar is a favorite apres spot with two levels for enjoying full service lunch menu for pub-style food and daily drink specials or enjoy the spring sun on their expansive deck.  Moffat Market This food court has a railroad theme as a backdrop for the fresh cuisine and grill fare.  Specialty options include New-York style pizza, Tex-Mex cuisine, Asian noodle bowls at the revamped "Umami" and Shortline's soup. Einstein's Bagels kiosk for breakfast bagels and lunch specialties. Z's Coffee This is the newest addition to West Portal and offer gourmet lattes, cappuccinos, pastries. Enjoy afternoon beer or wine. West Portal Outfitters has the latest brands and logo-wear and can be the one stop for all ski and snowboard apparel and needed accessories.  Winter Park Resort Rentals has 2 locations - one here at West Portal and the other in the Village.  Both shops offer free overnight storage of rental equipment when renting with their stores, purchase of lift tickets and lessons.  The newest Montana tuning machine for top of the line rental equipment.

Kids Adventure Junction: Located adjacent to West Portal Station, this facility includes a nursery, kids meeting rooms, and children's rentals. 7-Mile Medical Clinic and Ski Patrol/First Aid occupy the ground floor.

Balcony House: The Coffee & Tea Market has been a long standing tradition at Winter Park serving home-baked treats and hot drink specials.  This building also has the Ski Video Mountain Memories, Sharpshooters Photography, Competition Center offices, restrooms, Security, Season Pass Office, meeting rooms, and coin-operated lockers.

Zephyr Mountain Lodge: This building is adjacent to the Zephyr Express lift and has condominium units, meeting rooms on the upper levels and a variety of shops and restaurants on the ground floor.  Starbucks for a quick breakfast to go, lunch sandwiches and free wi-fi and Doc's Roadhouse featuring a full service, sit down restaurant with lunch specials, kid's menu, lounge and a great deck to view the mountain.  Mountain Adventure Center  offers free overnight rental storage and is the place to check out the newest and best demo equipment from Burton, Salomon and K2; outerwear, accessories and lift tickets.  Showcase Snowboards has all the latest gear and demos from Burton, Billabong, Volcom and Element. 

The Village: Located nearest to the parking structure features Lime an American cantina with mighty margaritas.  Cheeky Monk a Belgian beer cafe with over 20 imported beers and meal pairing.  Goody's a brand new sofa/ice cream shop for the kid's favorite sweets and treats.  The Back Bowl Soup Company has a deli for home-made sandwiches on a variety of breads, meats and cheeses; daily homemade soups.  Pizza Pedal'R Serves delicious pizza by the whole pie or slice. Retail shops include:  Shirt Off My Back - adult and children souvenirs.  Trail's End Mercantile - All necessities that you may have forgotten for a day on the slopes; gifts and t-shirts to take home.  Silver Creek Outfitters - Clothing, jewelry and home decor items. 

Vintage Hotel:  Offers hotel and studio lodging options and the Five Mountain Tavern - a family oriented dining option that opens at 2pm with draft beer specials, entertainment, gourmet burgers and the best root beer floats! 

The Lodge at Sunspot: The mountain top lodge an upscale foot court (The Provisioner), Coffee Shop & Bakery, Sunspot Lounge, and panoramic views of the Continental Divide. Foot passenger tickets available from the base of Winter Park Resort to The Lodge at Sunspot via the Zephyr Express chairlift between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Dinner is available on select holidays, Friday and Saturday evenings.  Please call 970-726-1446 for dinner reservations.

Snoasis Market:  The colorful mid-mountain spot has a great sun drenched deck to enjoy a quick bit to eat, specialty drinks, loud music and watch riders try to conquer the Dark Territory terrain park.

Mary Jane - The facility has 3 dining options, retail space, ski rental and repair shop, ticket sales, guest services, ski patrol and lockers.

Mary Jane Center: Club Car a local favorite for Bloody Marys, bistro-style dining and full service bar.  Pepperoni's has the best slices of pie and a true sports bar atmosphere with the infamous membership mug club.  Mary Jane Market Cafe is the food court with all the food choices you could ask for:  soups, deli, burgers, pasta, stromboli and more. The Jane Shop carries skis, snowboards and telemark rentals; the latest and greatest outerwear and accessories.

Lunch Rock: Located at the top of the mountain with an elevation of 11,200 feet and awe inspiring views of Parry's Peak, this is the perfect place for BBQ or casual food options.

Ski and Ride School Programs
The large variety of lesson packages available at Winter Park Resort make it a great place to learn.  Adult and children class lessons, adult, children and family private lessons.  Specialty clinics that include First Tracks, Last Tracks, Family Privates, and specialty clinics throughout the season that cater to women, mogul skiers, freeriders, and telemarkers. Kids Adventure Junction
The kids program at Winter Park is said to be one of the best in Colorado offering kids a great way to learn to ski for the first time or advance their skills. Registration (8am to 9:15am), rentals, meeting rooms are all located in the Kids Adventure Junction. Wee Willie's Childcare: This non-skier program is for children 2 months to 6 years that provides indoor activities and outdoor play. Lunch is available. A complimentary beeper/pager is included in the rates. 48 hour reservation is requested by calling 1-800-420-8093. 

The Kids Daily Programs: The program for 3 year-olds (Just Because I'm Three) is a lesson for kids to enjoy outdoor snowplay, skiing, arts & crafts, & Adventure Sled rides. Participants must be potty-trained.  All kids (4 and older for skiing and 6 and older for snowboard) have the options of class lessons that are broken down based on age and ability level.  Registration for lessons is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on lesson day at any Winter Park Resort Guest Service Center Desk.

Adults:  The Winter Park Adult Ski and Ride school has the best professional instructors for all levels of skiing and snowboarding.  Typical age is 13 and older for the adult class lessons.  Special 3 day camps are available throughout the year as well.

National Sports Center for the Disabled

This is the largest and most successful program of its kind in the world. In 1970 it started with 23 amputee children from Denver. Now starting its 40th season, this non-profit organization teaches more than 18,000 lessons annually and provides year-round sports for children and adults alike. The NSCD Competition Program focuses on race training and coaching for disabled skiers participating in regional, national, and international events. The NSCD has a Hall of Fame center at the Lodge at Sunspot.

The program offers clinics throughout the season as well as services that include tuning, binding mounts, boot fitting, and equipment repair. The seasonal training offered in alpine, freestyle, freeride, snowboarding and all mountain skiing for all ages of intermediate to advanced skill levels.

NASTAR Races: This unique recreational race course is open daily from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Cranmer Trail, near the Snoasis restaurant. Medals are awarded for qualifying times. Youth ages 6-17 are $7.00; adults 18-64 are $10; kids 5 and under are free.  Seniors 65 and older are $7.00 Fri-Sun and Free Mon-Wed.

Snowshoe Tours: Guides introduce the basics of snowshoeing and share history of the area and its inhabitants of the Fraser Valley. The tour starts with a ride on the Gemini Express, to a gentle downhill trek through a forested trail on the mountain.  2 hour tours are daily from 10:30am and a second option of 1:30pm on holidays, Fridays and Saturdays.  Independent touring and rentals are available.  Contact Guest Services.

Snowcat Tours: This is a great way to see the mountain and get some great pictures.  The two-hour tours depart at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. (2 p.m. Friday and Saturday only) from the Winter Park base area

Scenic Chairlift Rides: A great way to experience the beauty of the Colorado Rockies without skis or snowboards. Ride the Zephyr Express Chairlift after 11am daily for a ride to the Lodge at Sunspot. This is a 12-15 minute ride.

Ski Bikes: Lessons and rentals are available daily. Lessons are at 9:30am and 12:30pm in front of West Portal Rentals. Skibikes are not allowed in the terrain parks. Night bikes are from 12/17/11-3/26/12 every Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 9pm. Contact guest services to make reservations.

Ice Skating The outdoor rink is located in the heart of the Village and is open from 10am to 10pm daily. Skate rentals are available at Winter Park Resort Rentals. Free lessons are available Thursday to Sunday through mid-March from 4pm-5pm.
