2007 Welcomed by Yet More Snow

Snow has fairly peppered the headlines since December 20, thanks mainly to the disruption left in its wake at Denver International Airport and along the major highways and byways in and out of our great State of Colorado.

The 2-day closure of DIA caused major rescheduling headaches for the airlines, ground transportation and lodging companies alike, and when “Round 2” came in a few days later, it was more our drive market guests that were affected than those flying in.

I mentioned before under my “H” post about the impact headlines can have on our industry. Even in times of woe, these headlines still have a very beneficial impact as they draw attention to the fact that we’re getting clobbered with snow, and that means great skiing conditions. Even now, it’s snowing again – with 1 foot of snow having already fallen since last night. The forecast is more continued snow during today and up to 6 inches or more for the rest of the weekend, so we may get 2 feet out of this one.

With 130 inches already having fallen so far this season, we’re off to a great start, and importantly – with the Resort as full as it has been over the holidays – our guests will return home having experienced top-notch conditions and will want to come back.
